Embodied Chakra Play

This unique series is an immersive yogic exploration in the qualities of grounding, creativity, power, compassion, communication, vision, and integration. We use asana, discussion, visualization, and voice to explore the chakra system within our physical, energetic, and mental bodies.

Chakras are energetic centers in the body through which we interact with the world.

Classes are for all levels.

If you’ve taken a short class, read and practiced extensively, or are brand new to chakras, this series will give you a deeper level of personal understanding and an inner source of discernment and guidance.

Learn basic chakra theory and its relevance to the physical body and relationships.

With this course, you will receive a comprehensive hand-out summarizing basic connections for the 7 primary chakras and their: representative symbol, location, plexus, element, color, action, function, qualities, related organs and glands, affiliated seed sounds, guns, koshas, vayus, associated yoga postures and practices, and specific muscle groups aligned with each chakra.

In my classes you can expect clear, tangible sequences that bring you into deep inner contact with yourself. I teach students how to notice internal cues and use them to guide their own practice.

Session 1

We begin with a brief discussion of chakra theory including its implications and energy movement and vibration in our body. Then we dive right into grounding and rebounding while we find our roots. Practice a steady standing series to feel stability, connection, and support.

Chakra 1:
The Perineum

Session 2

In this practice, we move from the stability we established in the root to develop a sense of self. We explore standing poses, hip openers, and flow to develop awareness of, and access to, supported and fluid movements.

Creativity. Fluidity. Change. Transition.

Chakra 2:
The Pelvis

Session 3

This practice helps us tap into our strength to move from our center and our subtle core. Twists, grounding, churning our inner fires, and supporting ourselves.

Power. Strength, Digestion. Transformation.

Chakra 3:
The Abdomen

Session 4

We explore backbends with the power and support we developed in the first three classes so that we can breathe. The heart chakra moves towards balance from this safe and introspective place.

Love. Compassion. Connection. Balance.

Chakra 4:
The Heart

Session 5

Here we explore the space and connection of our neck and hands. In this practice, we invite curiosity about vibration in our body and incorporate some basic toning. We also practice deep listening.

Communication. Expression. Purification. Vibration.

Chakra 5:
The Throat

Session 6

This practice warms up, strengthens, and relaxes the whole body before moving beyond the traditional asana practice and into the realm of meditation and visualization for the last 20-30 minutes of class.

Chakra 6:
The Third Eye

Session 7

This session brings all that we’ve learned together so each individual can invite alignment from the inside out. We learn to connect our intentions with reality and our spirit with our physical bodies.
