Balance and Vitalize your Prana

Vitality and the Vayus

Prana is the current of universal life force that runs through your body, vitalizes you, feeds you, and expresses you. Prana has many names in many different spiritual philosophies and lineages; energy, the nervous system, qi, mana, ruach, baraka, the force, spirit, ni… In the yoga tradition life force is divided into five dominant currents referred to as the vayus or winds. Prana vayu, apana vayu, vyana vayu, udana vayu, and samana vayu. Each current governs a different energetic and physiological body function and your interaction with the world.

Prana vayu is the current of energy moving in and vitalizing you.

Apana vayu is your grounding energy that connects you to the earth and provides stability and support.

Vyana vayu is your expansion, movement, and extension of your inner world with your surroundings.

Samana vayu is integration, gathering, and equalizing the world around you. Samana vayu helps us connect with the world around us by assimilating all that we experience.

Udana vayu literally holds us up and is the energy that flows up and out. It is a vehicle for expression and growth.

“There is a vitality, a life-force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.” [Martha Graham]

Learn to ride your inner winds.

We’ll begin the journey by tapping into our breath and then go on to explore each vayu on its own.

This workshop guides you into a deeper understanding of how energy moves through you and how it may affect your physical and mental bodies.
