Movement. Understanding. Heart.
This online live series is a condensed foundation of a yoga teacher training program perfect for those of you looking to deepen your yoga practice, understand your body, and broaden your perspective of yourself.
The format of the Journey Into the Body is designed specifically to generate in-depth understanding while meeting just four days a month for 1-2 hours. This course is for the curious beginner, teachers looking for a clear and structured review, anybody seeking deep connection with their body, and those that really want to understand how functional anatomy and biomechanics is applied.
Movement
Every other Thursday evening we practice yoga asana focused on one area of the body moving from the ground up. The 1.5-hour sessions allow us time to really integrate concepts and enjoy a thorough cool down and savasana. Options and accessible variations will be presented for all bodies.
Understanding
The following Saturday we explore the anatomy and biomechanics of the same area we focused on in yoga in order to gain the background behind what we practiced and experienced. I’ve found that learning why we do what we do reinforces understanding and access to the physical practice in a truly profound manner. Combining experience with knowledge is my favorite and most effective way to teach. I’m so glad that this course finally came together!
Heart
The Pranayama (breath work), Philosophy, and Meditation section also meets every other Saturday morning. The early morning (8:30-9:30am) section enhances interoception (internal awareness), introspection, and provides insight and exposure into why yoga feels so different than general exercise routines. The practice expands from the natural breath through basic pranayama practices. The discussion the first 4-5 sessions provides basic yoga philosophy and then begins to weave meditation into the morning sessions.

Live Online
We will be interacting on Zoom and class size is limited to ensure personalized attention and quality instruction. I’ve been so impressed with the classes I’ve led and participated in online. I have seen huge progress in form, understanding, and abilities. Some of the progress may even be faster than with in-person classes. Maybe the cues are more refined and clear or maybe students are naturally more responsive to verbal cues when they can't rely on their other senses as much. Whatever it is, I am actually very pleased with online class and think most participants are as well. Through online live classes I am still able to give each student some individual attention throughout class and sense connection. A bonus of the online format is that you’ll have access to repeat the yoga class after the functional anatomy section and you’ll be able to view anything you missed. All sessions (speaker view) will be recorded and available for viewing on demand or download for personal use 3 months after completion.
